In the latest episode, the guild’s adventures came together and formed a band to defeat a common threat. That common threat is the dark spirit, but that’s not even to damage him. Thus a flashback occurs, revealing the reason why Marlock had entered the maze. We learn that in his quest to become the great wizard, Marlock had abandoned his daughter, resulting in the latter’s unfortunate death from a high fever.
In order to get his daughter back, Marlock seeks out the legendary wizard in the labyrinth who could manipulate time in hopes of using the power to get his daughter back, but the lost challenge resulted in the wizard taking away Marlock’s memories. Returning to the present, speculating that Marlock was the one who called Saitou to this world, the latter helps Marlock cast a time spell that freezes everyone but Marlock himself.
