If you like J-pop or listen to new songs from various artists, you should definitely check out UniteUp’s Youtube channel! As for the anime, as mentioned above, it is an ONA, original network animation that brings a whole new story of an idol’s adventure.

The anime adaptation of UniteUp! was announced last September during an Online Fest held by Aniplex. As mentioned above, Clover Studios is bringing us the anime adaptation with Shin’ichiro Ushijima directing the series.

The other staff involved in creating this anime are Rino Yamazaki for the scripts, Majiro designing the characters, Asami Komatsu and Yurie Hama as animation directors, and lastly, we have Yuki Hayashi composing the music. As for the anime’s plot, we will be following the story of a high school student named Akira Kiyoshe.

High school student Akira Kiyoshe has always loved to sing and dance and thanks to his good looks, he is recruited by an agency called sMiLea Production to work on his talent. Surprisingly, the agency is made up of an idol group known as “Anela,” who were legendary in their day but retired at the peak of their stardom.

At this agency, Akira meets Chigiri and Naeo, who are together at the agency to form an idol group. Thus we follow the adventure of the three young men pursuing stardom and becoming idols alongside other idol groups from the same agency called “LEGIT” and “JAXX/JAXX.” This anime is perfect for the big fans of idols who would like to see more on daily life and the struggle behind becoming a famous idol.

Previously on UniteUp!

In the last episode of UniteUp!, which was episode 3 of UniteUp! we saw the new Akira trying to get an autograph from his sister’s idol group LEGIT Daiki. Going to the agency, Akira also finds out that Daiki is from his school and is excited about it, but the latter’s personality is very harsh and he asks Akira never to talk to him at school.

After this little joke, we see that Akira, Naoe, and Chigiri are learning about the new ways of becoming idols and are informed that they must watch LEGIT’s upcoming live performance in person. The group is excited about the live performance as they have never seen one in person.

Speaking of the idol group LEGIT, we see that in the next room, LEGIT’s Daiki and Eishro are arguing while practicing for the upcoming live performance. Since Daiki wants to represent the group with his dance moves, Eishori doesn’t get along with the idea and Daiki ends up leaving and soon Eishiro leaves too.

Akira, Naoe, and Chigiri go around town and end up going to the restaurant where Naoe works part-time. They end up meeting with Eishori, who is eating for free again, for which the owner ends up putting in his salary from Naoe. Akira questions the reason why Eishori wants to be an idol, and Eishori informs him that it is because his ultimate goal is to become president, since they have the highest authority.

Therefore, he is becoming an idol first to gather fans and stardom and then become president. He also informs them why he and Daiki cannot get along due to the latter’s selfish personality. But Akira remembers a quote from his favorite anime about trusting your friends, which makes Eishiro reconsider his discussion with Daiki.

In the flashback, we learn that Daiki works very hard and has a secret place where they formed their friendship and learned together about each other’s dreams and goals. In the present, Eishiro finds Daiki at his practice spot and decides to follow his attempt at a dance move, but the rest of the things will be his authority.

Akira, Naoe and Chigiri go to LEGIT’s live concert where Akira is really amazed by the performance and notices how hard Akira works. After the concert, Akira manages to get an autograph from Daiki which he promises to hang on the wall in his room.
