Chapter 389 Recap

My Hero Academia Chapter 389 begins with information that even though Dabi’s temperature rise is slowing down, he is still inevitably on the verge of exploding. The Todoroki family, meanwhile, kept trying to use their ice cream to cool Toya and themselves simultaneously. Dabi, meanwhile, realizes that everyone is watching him, wondering if this is how it feels and if it’s so easy, why it took so long to happen.

As Dabi says this, we can see shots of an injured Endeavor and retreating Heroes and civilians. Toga’s clones are also visible, along with a shot of Ochaco Uraraka fighting Himiko Toga herself as other Heroes retreat. We then see three kids that Shoto and Bakugo met when they were taking make-up lessons to get their provisional license, and who appear to be watching something live.

A reporter then films Dabi’s sphere of warmth, while the kid who supported Endeavor on TV is shown watching Endeavor and praying for him. The show then takes place in a cafe in the Philippines, where a woman is also seen praying. The three children then reappear, claiming that everything will be fine because “Five Wieners” is on their side. This is the nickname they gave to Shoto Todoroki, who can be seen running on Tenya Iida’s back at the end of the issue.

What to expect

My Hero Academia Chapter 390 will most certainly continue to focus on the drama of the Todoroki family and its seemingly imminent demise. This is especially true since author and illustrator Kohei Horikoshi has simply dug fans too deep into the current plot to be able to pull them away.

Likewise, with Shoto’s arrival in My Hero Academia Chapter 390, it makes even less sense to switch views in the next episode. Therefore, fans can expect to see at least the beginning of the show’s B-story climax in the next issue.
