Warning ! Spoilers for My Hero Academia Chapter 366 to follow! My Hero Academia has reached an intense new phase in the final war between heroes and villains, and the series’ latest chapter has taken Mirio Togata back to his roots with his latest surprise attack on Tomura Shigaraki! Mirio was originally introduced to the series as a potential successor to All Might, but after losing his power, he stood back from events until he joined the main battle during the culmination of the war with the Paranormal Liberation Front.
Mirio and the other two members of the Big Three are now at the center of the fight against Shigaraki, but the villain himself has grown much stronger than any of them could have anticipated. Mirio struggled against the villain as Shigaraki pressured them all the time, but the final chapter gave him his greatest test: he had to make Shigaraki wait way longer than he could. His solution? He goes back to his prankster roots and makes fun of Shigaraki to make him laugh.
In My Hero Academia Chapter 366, Mirio begins to lose hope against Shigaraki as several heroes have been seriously injured by the villain. As he searches for a way to defend himself, he is instructed to make Shigaraki wait for two more seconds. This fight makes him feel like an eternity and he begins to panic and is nearly knocked out of the equation by Shigaraki. The villain takes on his most monstrous form and Mirio loses all hope of surviving. Thinking back to Sir Nighteye, he is once again inspired.
Trying to think of what he could do to make Shigaraki wait all this time with no real power that could hit him, thinking back to Sir Nighteye reminds him that his real weapon is humor. Using his Quirk to push his butt through the ground, he makes a “Rising Full Moon” pun and legitimately makes Shigaraki laugh. The villain is so taken aback by the ridiculousness of the situation that he gives Izuku Midoriya time to step in and fight.
