The end of the Land of Wano arc also ended one of the main eras of the series, and as the series moves forward in its final saga, fans are wondering what kind of new world Luffy and his form are in. Gear 5 will be screened. Especially because it’s a very different type of ability than what fans have seen used before.
Luffy’s Gear 5 form appeared during the climax of his fight against Kaido. When all hope seemed lost, Luffy was able to activate this power within him and unleash this new form. She’s vastly different from anything we’ve seen in the past, and she’ll likely be even wilder when Luffy begins to face even more dangerous opponents on the high seas. The series’ latest chapter officially moves this story forward, and that’s why the latest Shonen Jump cover decided to put Gear 5 in the spotlight. You can find it below:
Luffy’s Gear 5 power was an awakening to his Devil Fruit’s true abilities. The fight against Kaido revealed that Luffy’s Devil Fruit was actually something much more powerful, and his Gear 5 form was the full release of this hidden, godlike power. The fight against Kaido revealed that Luffy has gained “ridiculous” new abilities that not only make his body look more cartoony and rubbery, but also allow him to give that same rubbery edge to everything around him.
This form allowed her to officially win the final battle for Wano, and she’s so different from everything else that fans can’t wait for her to appear in the anime. It’ll probably be a while before we see this form appear in the anime adaptation, but at least covers like this bring Luffy’s Gear Five form to full life.
