Shin’s dream has always been to be a Great General under the heavens. And now that our protagonist is a general with 10,000 men under his command, we’re taking a look at all the important events in his life.
What made Shin become a great man in such a short time? Let’s take a look.
We must remember that Kingdom is a story set in the Warring States period of China. Back then, the nation was divided into Qin, Zhao, Chu, Wei, Yan, and Qi.
They were constantly fighting each other, trying to establish some dominance. And from these states came Li Xin and Yang Zheng.
Emperor Yang Zheng, or Ei Sei, was the first man to unify all of China, at least according to the historian Shi Ji. And Xin was Emperor Sei’s sword.
It took a long time and many battles to achieve something as gigantic as the unification of China, something that was considered impossible at the time.
Since the fourth season of the anime has just ended, we expect Kingdom Season 5 to be announced very soon.
Shin’s early years:
As much as just Xin, our protagonist was just an orphan. All he had in his life was his friend his Piao his. Together, they dreamed of becoming generals. One day, Piao became Crown Prince Sei’s body double and later, he gave his life to the task.
This led to Sei and Xin meeting, where the latter became the former’s sword.
During the Sei Kyou Rebellion, Shin played a key role in defeating the opposition. Along with allies like Karyo Ten, Shoubunkun, and Heki, Shin chased after Sei and saved him just in time. With the help of the mountain tribe, Sei was saved and Shin gained his trust. And so he began his life as a warrior.
Shin distinguished himself in his first campaign against Wei. He was a simple foot soldier during that war and his relatively weak group performed extremely well. In the end, Shin had claimed the head of Kyuu Gen, a strong opponent. And so, he was promoted to commander of 100 men!
He then went on to foil an assassination on Ei Sei’s life. And then, he went to train with the Great General Ou Ki. Here he learned the value of unity and the challenges of leadership. Shin then went on to form his 100-man group: he began their battle on the Bayou.
This was a critical battle, where the Hi Shin Unit was appointed by Ou Ki himself. Shin’s unit was extremely effective in this war. Shin killed Gi Ka in this war and saw Ou Ki’s death. With his dying breath, the Great General had passed the glaive from him to Shin.
Shin finally becomes famous:
Then came the war against Wei, where Shin participated as commander of 300 men. Ei Sei also asks Shin to become a general in the span of only 5 years. Ei Sei was fighting an uphill battle and needed Shin to up his game as well. This was also the point where he began his rivalry with Mou Ten and Ou Hon.
Then came the Sanyou campaign, where he fought under General Mou Gou. Here, Shin attacked the 1000-man commander Ran Dou. In this war, Shin is promoted to commander of 1000 men. However, he must bring back the heads of 3 enemies, 1000 men commanders or 1 general. Failing this task will lead to you being demoted to a 5-man commander.
The war is long and hard. But in the end, Shin manages to kill Rin Ko, one of the 4 opponent generals of him. Rin Ko was Renpa’s flying spear and a member of the 4 Heavenly Kings.
He briefly clashed with the Great General Renpa and learned the true weight of men who bear such titles. Shin was rewarded by Ei Sei for his outstanding achievements in the war.
Then came the Coalition Invasion war. He fought hard and defeated General Man Goku in this war. Later, he too survived Riboku’s siege, which killed Duke Hyou. Shin inherited Duke Hyou’s shield after this.
But that was not the end. Shin helped Sei defend Sai City from Riboku. It was the toughest battle he had ever faced. And then he collided and injured Hou Ken. His hatred for the former was immense as he wanted to avenge Ou Ki.
He was handsomely rewarded for his immense contributions. In addition to many rewards, Shin officially became a commander of 3,000 men.
road to general
In the following years, Shin defended the capital when Sei became emperor. He also protected Sei’s daughter. He then went to fight Wei’s Fire Dragons after General Tou specifically asked him to.
In this war, he developed a strong rivalry with Gai Mou and had to overcome the barrier. However, his battle could not come to an end. Still, Shin ended up killing Rei Ou and barely lost Go Hou Mei. He is later promoted to commander of 5,000 men. Since Kyou Kai became a 3,000 man commander, Shin essentially had 8,000 men under him.
Shin then participated in the Koku You Campaign and then came the infamous Zhao Campaign. Initially, in this campaign, Shin fights a lot. But in the end, he managed to kill Gaku Ei and Chou Ga Ryuu. Finally, his unit began to move forward.
It was then that she finally met Hou Ken. After a long and hard battle, Shin managed to kill Hou Ken, finally fulfilling his revenge on him. Although, this took its toll on him and he would have died were it not for Kyou Kai sacrificing himself for him. 5 months later, Shin is finally promoted to the rank of General!
Shin becomes a general
After becoming a General in Chapter 642, Shin finally reached a position where his actions will finally have an impact on the battlefield. He headed to Gyou, where he will continue Zhao’s invasion. But the opposition had Riboku. Only thanks to that man, Zhao’s defenses were impeccable.
And so, Ou Sen made the plan for the battle of Gian. Zhao’s retaliation was harsh, and the battle of Gian proved especially harsh, as both Ou Hon and Mou Ten also faced extreme hardship. And that brings us to the present, where Shin has finally taken Gian’s castle and is waiting for reinforcements.
Right now, Shin aspires to become someone beyond a general, meaning a great general. And with the 6 Heavenly General system restored, Shin has a chance to take the final spot.
If he can prove that he is capable, Shin will become the sixth great general of the new generation. Will he be able to do it? We’ll have to keep reading the Kingdom manga to find out.
