For curious viewers, here’s everything you need to know about Glen and Glenda in Season 2 of Chucky! SPOILERS AHEAD!
Who are Glen and Glenda? Were they in the movie Chucky?
Glen and Glenda appear in the second episode of Season 2 of ‘Chucky’. However, the characters originated in the 1998 film ‘Bride of Chucky’. In this film, Chucky and Tiffany have sex which leads to the birth of Glen and their twin sister. The characters return in the next installment of the film series, titled Seed of Chucky. Glen and Glenda have a complicated life as they are essentially trapped inside a doll and slowly discover the identity of their parents. They are forced to share the same body and fight for control throughout the film.
However, during the film’s climax, Glen kills Chucky and goes into a psychotic breakdown. With the help of their mother, Tiffany, inhabiting the body of actress Jennifer Tilly, manages to return them to human form. The twins are separated into two babies and live with their mother. Glen and Glenda grow up and become vicious and violent, just like their parents. However, the characters are absent from the next two franchise installments titled Curse of Chucky and Cult of Chucky. The whereabouts of Glen and Glenda during the first season of Chucky are unknown, but they reappear in the second season as teenagers. They arrive at Tiffany’s property in Beverly Hills when the latter kills a detective looking for Nica Pierce.
Are Glen and Glenda gay?
Glen and Glenda were born into doll bodies leading to their complicated exploration of sexuality. At the end of ‘Seed of Chucky’, the siblings are separated into human bodies, one girl and the other boy. Initially, Glen and Glenda identify as a boy and a girl, implying that they are heterosexual. However, in the TV series, non-binary actor Lachlan Watson stars as twins Glen and Glenda. Watson first briefly appears as a character in the second episode of Season 2, titled Sinners Are Much More Fun. They are best known for their portrayal of Theo Putnam in the Netflix original series Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.
Watson’s casting as Glen and Glenda implies that the characters are not heterosexual but queer. In an interview, creator Don Mancini confirmed that Glen and Glenda are non-binary in the TV series. I hope our queer audience, our trans audience, will really like these characters and the performances that Lachlan gave as these characters. I hope they love it as much as I do because it was really important for us to honor the trans experience with these characters, Mancini told Gizmodo about bringing Glen and Glenda to the show.
The series gives Glen and Glenda distinct appearances, as Glen has short, cropped red hair. On the other hand, Glenda has longer hair with a brownish tint. Additionally, Glen is said to dislike violence due to his past experiences. Glenda, on the other hand, is sadistic and violent, which makes her similar to her mother. It is still unclear how the twins will fit into Tiffany and Chucky’s lives. Glen and Glenda have grown up since their last appearance and have likely been abandoned by their parents. Therefore, their emergence will add to the complicated family dynamics for Tiffany and Chucky.
